Pictures hit an unprecedented milestone with this visually innovative and witty piece of animation, which took the beloved construction toys and infused them with an intelligent story. This is a film where Santa goes Awol on Christmas Eve, leading to a race against time to make sure the kids of the world get their presents on time. For starters the animation looks rather flat and lacks the texture and depth that more experienced studios can deliver. Pat's trusty sidekick Jess the cat will also make an appearance in the feature film, the character's first after multiple TV series outings since he debuted in 1981. It isn't until shortly after Pat's departure for the final competition that Ben and Jess discover that there appears to be more than one Pat and Edwin Carbunkle's true intent is exposed.

It was directed by Mike Disa, produced by Robert Anich Cole, written by Nicole Dubuc, with music by Rupert Gregson-Williams. Mr Z is 6 years old so getting a little old for Postman Pat but because this movie is more mature and has a more in depth story line he really liked it, both when watching in the cinema and when re-watching with the DVD at home. I hope this never crosses my path again and warn anyone thinking of watching this film to expect very little of the original- for that is what you will get. The film finds Pat, everyone’s favourite postman, coming face-to-face with the temptations of money, status and a shiny new suit when he enters a national TV talent show competition that threatens to tear him away from his hometown of. After more than three decades entertaining children on TV, Postman Pat makes the transition to the big-screen in Postman Pat: The Movie (2014).
