Description

Most safety razor blades are considered disposable and are designed for a limited number of shaves, typically ranging from three to seven shaves per blade. However, some individuals may extend the life of a blade with proper care and maintenance, such as rinsing and drying the blade after each use. Blade Brands and Varieties

It has been almost 2 years since my review of the Derby Extra Razor Blade. After trying over 35 different DE razor blades, the Derby Extra has made its way into my regular rotation. These definitely are not bad blades. They are really good de razor blades that have great quality control. They just happen to prioritize smoothness over sharpness. They definitely are not the right blades for a lot of men, but they are the perfect blades for some men. Great Option for Anyone Looking for a Mild Blade If you don’t suffer from skin irritation issues you may like these because depending on your beard you may be able to get away with only one or two passes. Tried this blade in a Gillette Slim at about a 3 setting. Nice shave on face and head. Little if any irritation around mouth. Would use again.

Keep reading our Derby Razor Blades Review to see if they could be right for you. Who Is Derby, The Company?I also probably would not recommend this blade to beginner’s unless they have a really light beard or fine hair. Why? Because it is so smooth, I think a lot of beginners overcompensate when using a really mild blade and instead of letting the razor do the work, they apply pressure. In my opinion, beginners actually benefit from using a middle of the road sharp blade. Used in a Sanguine Steel shavette this morning - like the well mannered Dorco 300 I've used previously, these are another very forgiving blade... Maybe tolerant would be a more accurate word.

Blade Material: The type of steel or material used in the blade's construction can affect its durability. High-quality, stainless steel blades tend to last longer than less durable materials. We delve into the sharpness of safety razor blades and how it affects your shaving experience. Learn how to choose the ideal blade sharpness for your skin sensitivity. Compared to other razor blades, Derby Extras are considered some of the smoothest, however they are definitely not the sharpest. Derby’s hit a home run when it comes to quality control and consistency. Durability Varies For Users but Most Derby Users Change the Blade More Frequently than the Average Blade Your trusty razor is there to take you through life's most important moments. From your first day on the new job to walking down the aisle, that sharp freshly-shaved look always helps you feel your best. Two of my full head shaves are about 4 face shaves, and if you shave every second day that’s a week for about 10 cents. I don’t see why you would want to push this blade any further.

You will still get cut if your technique is "off". You will get cut if you rush at it and assume you're going to be okay... and if you're a bit too vigorous rash will occur. Blade Sharpness: Over time, blades may lose sharpness but remain usable. The point at which a blade is considered too dull to be effective varies from person to person. In the Derby English language catalog (link below) the only difference listed is the use of Swedish steel. Otherwise the copy for both is identical with the statement "Special double coating with chromium, ceramic, platinum & tungsten for optimum edge durability & comfort" implying that the manufacturing process may be the same. This morning I nearly amputated the left side of my face. Partially my fault, partially the blades fault. For the side of my face that I didn't destroy, it feels like I didn't shave at all but at least it looks like I did so I'm good to go today at work. Our shaving soaps are a testament to the perfect blend of nature's finest ingredients and advanced formulations. Crafted with care and attention to detail, our soaps transform the act of shaving into a luxurious ritual.

Derby Extra blades are some of the smoothest and mildest double edge razor blades on the market. So just because they are at the other end of the sharpness spectrum from a Feather, does that mean they are a bad blade? I don’t think the durability of the blades should be a big concern, but just be aware that you might need to change them a little more frequently than some other blades.
