About this deal

How expensive is a garage floor coated with epoxy resin? The Epoxy garage floor costsdepend mainly on whether the coating is carried out in-house or whether a professional takes care of it. In general, prices start at around 24 cents per square feet. For a parking space of about 500 square feet, an epoxy resin coating costs about 120 Dollars. Power floated and self levelled floors need to be etched before application of any floor paint, this can be done with an acid etching solution or using a floor grinding machine. To avoid any issues with colour between tins your first tin application should cover the whole of the garage floor. Your second tin application should then cover the same space once dried. Do not for example open 1 tin and coat half of the area, leave to dry, then cover the same area and then do the same with the second tin on the other half. This could result in a visible side by side difference in shade. This is a 2 stage application using a full tin on each stage. How should I prepare the surface? When it comes to epoxy flooring, Permagard is the go-to option. We are experienced and approachable, with technical experts on hand to answer and questions you may have. The choice of colours and finishes of resin flooring means you can choose a style to match your home’s interior.

Before upgrading your garage by investing in a floor coating, we highly recommend considering the installation and maintenance requirements of each option to help you find the right product for you. Installation Before you can use the epoxy resin, you must mix it according to your needs. To do this, mix the 2 components of the epoxy resin (resin + hardener) in a ratio of 2:1. A stirrer makes it easier for you to mix the two elements. Stirring is particularly important to ensure that the mixture is uniform and has good resistance at the end. The cured final coat is ok for foot traffic. Cars and heavy objects, however, should be left off the new coating for the first 48 hours and chemicals including water should not be introduced for the first 7 days (Full chemical cure).

Why DURAMAT?

Epoxy floors are also attractive. A reflective gloss look is relatively easy to achieve and appealing for those looking to show off their cars. The combination of aesthetics and practicality is a winning one. As soon as a professional company takes over the coating of the floor, a few hundred euros are added. In the end you will pay about 1’000 Dollars for the complete coating of the floor with a professional. The price also varies depending on the layer applied, the area covered and possible travel costs. What is an epoxy resin floor coating? Epoxy resin is a form of plastic that is divided into two components. These combine chemically with each other and form a solid surface after curing. It is also possible to incorporate decorative chips and flakes. If the floor is clean with no contamination or damp then there is no need for a specific primer. The standard epoxy floor coating can be used as the priming coat as these thinner products will penetrate the concrete, followed by the Epoxy floor coating HB to achieve a durable, high gloss finish.

This product should NOT be split. Taking smaller quantities from each tin, even if measured correctly, may cause issues with activating. Empty the contents of the part B into the part A tin, mix thoroughly for atleast 2 minutes with a paddle mixer, start applying the paint immediately, there is roughly a 30 minute work time for this product. Whilst every effort is made to match colours, the final colour may vary slightly from any sample shown as will the finished surface Old paint finishes should be removed if flaking at all and the surface should be sanded to create a texture (also known as a mechanical key) prior to applying Resincoat HB Epoxy Garage Floor Paint. When preparing for a floor coat, doing so mechanically (shot-blasting or grinding) is always advisable for best results, but if that is not possible then sanding the area or our Etch and Clean is a good alternative. After the surface has been completely abraded, thoroughly sweep and vacuum the area of any remaining dust or contaminants. For more information on preparation, please see technical data sheet.Epoxy paints are far more hard-wearing but are significantly more expensive, and require the mixing of the epoxy resin paint and a catalyst in the correct quantities. Epoxy paints require a little more care to apply, but the end result will be much tougher and more durable than solvent-based alternatives. That means they’re more resistant to wear, and you’re less likely to chip the paint if you drop a heavy tool on the floor. Do I need a garage floor paint primer? Sweeping, wiping, vacuuming as well as cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner is possible without any problems. Sanding the floor in the meantime is usually not necessary. The coated surface reliably repels dirt, oil, water and road salt. Eco-Friendly. Our tiles can all be recycled and are loose-lay (no adhesive required*) By not using powerful chemical adhesives you can eliminate or vastly reduce your use of hazardous materials, VOCs and waste materials. The toughness of our garage floor tiles ensures that your floor lasts you for many years to come as opposed to unreliable paints, epoxy coverings or cheaper, inferior PVC products. It is vital to provide as much ventilation as possible to the area to help the epoxy to dry. Applying Epoxy Floor Coating in cold, damp, non-ventilated environments can delay drying for long periods of time. Also observe application temperatures on the side of the container and do not use outside of these conditions. For a garage floor, the epoxy drying time depends on several factors such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Remember that you need to wait at least 12 hours between coats.
