Description

Freddie cannot bear to hurt Posy if he tells her something about the past, so instead he crushes her by breaking up with her the day after he had asked her to marry him. As I took a step closer, I was confused, because I wondered how the butterflies could stay so still, and what they had found to eat inside their little glass prison. I stayed in the woods a very long time, until I heard Daisy calling for me. I only wished I could ask Daddy why he'd killed them when they were so beautiful, and then hung them up like trophies so he could look up and see their deadness on the walls.

The Butterfly Room by Lucinda Riley Book Review: The Butterfly Room by Lucinda Riley

Lucinda Riley always writes characters that are memorable, identifiable and most of all loveable. These qualities are all in Posy, who has led a varied, and a times hard life, which is why I loved her tenacity and positivity towards life. She looses her beloved father at only seven years old, and as a result her mother when she went to live with her grandmother. Loss seems to be a common denominator in life as she is left widowed with two young children after her return to Admiral House, the place where she was happiest with her father. Still there at seventy she is considering selling as she can’t afford the upkeep, but she may have another chance of love with Freddie. For all Posy was my favourite character, her son Sam had to be my least favourite. Sam always has some new business venture going on but never any money or success which he always blames on someone else. The person most effected by this is his long suffering wife Amy, and two young children, who manages to work and look after the children without much help from her husband. Amy is the other character I took to my heart, her love for her children, always trying to do the right thing and her loyalty to Sam were admiral qualities but she does deserve better. The second part of the novel is Posy’s “current” life — dealing with the problems of her two grown sons, trying to figure out what to do with the rapidly deteriorating Admiral House that has become too expensive to maintain, and the sudden reappearance of a long-lost love. (Does it get more trite than that?) Then a face appears from the past – Freddie, her first love, who abandoned her and left her heartbroken fifty years ago. Already struggling to cope with her son’s inept business dealings, and the sudden reappearance of her younger son after ten years in Australia, Posy is reluctant to trust in Freddie’s renewed affection. And unbeknown to Posy, Freddie – and Admiral House – have a devastating secret to reveal . . . The Butterfly Room’ began its life as a manuscript I wrote almost ten years ago called ‘Red Admiral’.In 1940 we meet Posy, growing up in Admiral House with her parents. She has a close bond with her father until he is sent to war. A multi generational tale that was sweet and romantic and while it wasn’t on the edge of your seat suspense or intrigue it was charming and readable but not one for my favorites shelf. blogtour Adventure Ancient Egypt Art History Australia Book Blogger Bookliterati Book Recommendation Book review Christmas Contemporary Fiction Crime Del Rey Doubleday Emmeline Kirby and Gregory Longdon Mystery Fantasy Festive Reads Florence Folklore Harper Collins Historical Fiction History Independently Published Italy Karen Swan Literary Fiction Magic Mantle Books Melville House Murder Mystery Myth Orenda Books Pan Macmillan Penguin Random House Psychological thriller Romance Secrets Simon and Schuster Supernatural Suspense thriller Venice Women's Fiction Zaffre Books Book title Search for: Search Search Recent Comments I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

We discover how Posy’s childhood affected her adult life. There are plenty of secrets and twists along the way. The Butterfly Room is my first book by Lucinda Riley. It definitely won't be my last. Spellbinding. ❤ Book Review: One Hundred Merry Memories (An Aspen Cove Romance # 24) by Kelly Collins October 25, 2023 The Butterfly Room, an all-new not-to-be-missed sweeping family saga from #1 International bestselling author Lucinda Riley, is available now! Dopo poche pagine ritroviamo Posy ormai settantenne. In Admiral House ha creato, con pazienza e talento, un meraviglioso parco ricco di essenze arboree e fioriture. Questo luogo è il fulcro delle storie di molti personaggi, tutti con un proprio ruolo, che si intrecciano all’interno della storia. I think readers who enjoy romance novels with old houses and family dramas might well enjoy this one. I honestly didn’t connect with the characters and the story felt a little twee. There wasn’t enough drama or suspense here to keep me interested. Having said that I am not a fan of romance novels and this in my opinion was more romance than Historical fiction and therefore not really my thing.

This epic saga was beautifully written with enticingly mysterious and cleverly intertwining storylines that were threaded with a few heavy secrets and shattering tragedies that this grievously wily author used to taunt and tease me while brutally dangling them rather barbarously out of my reach. I was invested and immersed in the complexities of the characters’ overlapping and oddly compelling family dynamics after being bewitched and pleasantly enthralled by Posy’s early childhood history and interactions with her beloved fa Gardening and Posy’s work at Kew are central threads of the story. Are you a keen gardener yourself or is there another reason why you decided to include these themes?

Tai pasakojimas, kuriame glaudžiai persipynusi praeitis bei dabartis.. Joje praeities klaidas bei paslaptys pasiveja, nors kartais to mažiausiai norėtųsi.. Lucindos knygos paprastos, bet tikrai neprastos. Tikiu, jog ir Jus ši istorija įtrauks bei sudomins. Tikrai nėra ko baimintis jos apimties, nes istorija labai lengvai skaitosi, tad ir puslapiai tirpsta nepastebimai ✨ It smelt of polish, and light illuminated the circular walls that surrounded the windows Daisy had just cleaned. On the wall directly in front of me hung what must be an entire extended family of Red Admiral butterflies. They were lined up in rows of four behind glass enclosed by a gilt frame. No había leído nada de esta autora, tengo ganas de leer la saga de las siete hermanas, aunque preferí empezar por este que es autoconclusivo, imagino que no he acertado mucho con la elección ya que es una autora que en general tiene muy buenas reseñas. the dress—a shimmering cream 1930s vintage piece that covered the lumps and bumps that age had brought, and didn’t make her look like a ship in full sail. The Butterfly Room by Lucinda Riley – Bookliterati Book Reviews The Butterfly Room by Lucinda Riley – Bookliterati Book Reviews

Turning 70 has her thinking about the work it takes to maintain her beloved home, and she needs to make a decision about what to do with it.
