I don't say this too often about the books, I review, but this book is without quesiton one you simply must have. The creamy billows of meadowsweet’s flowers have been used for mead, wine, beer and syrups, and still make a good choice. What I love most is that although you cannot just lug it around everywhere whilst foraging (you could with a rucksack) and collecting, it is so beautifully illustrated that in no time you will easily recognise the plants you need whilst out and about on our shores, woods, meadows, scrubland and even in many urban areas.Botanical gin and wild cocktails (using foraged herbs to make your own botanical gin) and the spice of life (exploring the medicinal qualities of spices and the fascinating history of the spice trade). It has the same layout, with its strong visual emphasis, and the same sequence of information in each chapter, with added emphasis on modern clinical work on the plant and simple medicinal recipes using it.

I have shared this knowledge it presents with the recipes and remedies with work colleagues who are amazed. The text blends the history of the plants with their modern herbal applications, folklore and botany.
