So, there we have it. The non-vegan flavours that do not obviously contain non-vegan ingredients might be okay for vegans after all… as long as you don’t mind the possible risk of cross-contamination (which presumably is not that high, though we can’t say for certain). When it comes to Pot Noodle’s sister brand, Asian Street Style, most of these are suitable for vegetarians. However, the Vietnamese Beef Pho flavour does contain beef powder so vegetarians should avoid this one. But there is nothing present there that is definitely not vegan. The other possibility, as with Pot Noodles, is the possibility of cross-contamination during the manufacturing process. Many of them carry warnings such as “May also contain Crustaceans, Fish, Milk, Molluscs”, any of which would make them non-vegan. But many vegans disregard such warnings (though if you have allergic reactions to any of these things, it is better to avoid the products in question). Noodle pots contain very little fibre. The recommended daily fibre intake for adults is 30g per day, but most adults do not consume enough fibre (the daily average intake for a UK adult is just 17.2g for women and 20.1g for men). A diet that is low in fibre is linked to constipation and certain types of diseases including bowel cancer. Vitamins and minerals I've lost 5 pounds in the last couple of weeks, but I've really struggled the last couple of days (photographing french toast and Nutella earlier today didn't help AT ALL). We've also got pancake recipes to film this weekend.

Non Vegan Ingredients Consuming too much salt can cause high blood pressure, which may increase your risk of heart disease or stroke. The producers of Pot Noodle reduced the amount of salt in their products by 50% in 2007, but even with the reduction, the salt levels are still high. Calories in pot noodles
One thing the Miso Noodle flavour does not contain, though, is palm oil. Could this be the ingredient that Unilever think is stopping most Pot Noodles being vegan? We doubt it, as palm oil is actually classed as vegan by PETA.
Though a homemade dish will of course rarely taste like its processed equivalent, I have to admit that this recipe comes pretty damn close. Using a curly style of noodle (like spelt or wheat noodles) will give the authentic pot noodle-like texture, whilst peppers, carrots and peas stay true to the beef & tomato variety AND help you get those veggies in. Pot noodle beef is a type of instant noodle that is cooked in a pot. It is usually made with beef broth, noodles, and vegetables. The thing is, the aforementioned Miso Soup flavour Pot Noodle also carries a warning that it “may contain egg and milk”, so it is unlikely to be the cross-contamination risk that is stopping the other flavours being presented as vegan. In truth, this is all very confusing and seemingly contradictory, because the Miso Soup product is certified as vegan and proudly sold as such. We suspect this may well be a similar scenario as M&S’s (in)famous vegan range which was controversially labelled with the same allergy warning in 2019. Pot Noodles are manufactured in Croespenmaen, near Crumlin, Caerphilly, Wales, which became the topic of an advertising campaign of 2006, showing fictitious Pot Noodle mines in Wales. [6] The factory typically produces 175 million pots annually. [6] Many vegan cook books include variations of pot noodles, and they are usually far tastier than the originals truth be told! This is because you can add various fresh ingredients instead of having to rely on dehydrated ones. You can also tailor your pot noodle to your taste in terms of the spices you add.TD potty over 'child neglecting promoting' ad". Sunday World. 27 January 2002. p.25 . Retrieved 31 March 2023. The company behind Pot Noodle is working to avoid cross-contamination and is aiming to add the vegan flash onto more Pot Noodle flavours.
Finally, the ‘tomato’ aspect. Tomato ketchup does feature in this recipe, because – let’s face it – that’s all part of the pot noodle taste. However, it’s definitely sparingly and I always try to use a high quality ketchup (like this organic one by Meridian), or I use Heinz in a pinch. King Pot Noodles have the same ingredients as regular Pot Noodles, they’re just larger. Are Pot Noodles vegan? Pot Casserole" consisting of dried vegetables and soya protein was introduced during the 1980s, but discontinued before the turn of the century. What Stops Super Noodles Being Vegan?

These things are full of crap, after all, and if I really like something, I tend to want to eat it pretty often. Add the frozen peas and simmer the noodles and veg on a low-medium heat until more of the liquid has absorbed (about 5-10 minutes).
