Sorry to have missed you. We would like to discuss you’re financal situation. We will call again. … In the end when we all came together for our final discussion as we tried to piece everything together and our heads kept on spinning till one sister rescued us with helping us figure it all out. The Death of Mrs. Westaway lead to a fun, entertaining and interesting discussion and for that reason I recommend for group discussion.

One of my least favorite points of Ware’s novel is how a complex case of incest is one of the novel’s crucial turning points. I still don’t completely understand this dysfunctional family, let alone who’s related versus who is in love (or both, considering cousins/lovers Maggie and Ezra), which, by the way, seemed to come out of nowhere. A big thank you to NetGalley, Simon & Schuster Canada and Ruth Ware for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!Hal makes her living as a tarot card reader, a skill she learned from her mother. What do you think of tarot cards? Have you ever done a tarot card reading? What happened? But, Unc—” She stumbled over the word, unable to make herself articulate it, and began again: “Look, there’s something I must—”It was so tedious to read, I kept shouting at her in my head to just spit it out already. And I thought—This is it. This is what I have been waiting all my life to feel, this is what those girls at school used to talk about, this is what the songs mean, and the poems were written for. This is it. He is it. The Woman in Cabin 10 (2016): CBS has acquired film rights, and is set to produce the film with the Gotham Group. Screenwriter Hillary Seitz is attached. [30] I’ve recently fallen into the terrifying and bizarre world of thrillers. I love a good horror movie, or even some suspense in a movie or book, so it should be no surprise that I started thrillers. A thriller I was seeing all over social media (especially BookTube) is The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware. One of my favorite book bloggers, BooksandLala gave the book 4.5 stars, so I had to give it a shot. She calls the novel cinematic and engaging, and the best of Ware’s books so far.

Corrigan, Maureen. “Ruth Ware’s New Thriller Is a Classic.” Review of The Death of Mrs. Westaway, by Ruth Ware. The Washington Post, 24 May 2018, www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/books/why-ruth-wares-new-thriller-is-a-classic/2018/05/23/ac2a1a62-5d10-11e8-9ee3-49d6d4814c4c_story.html. Accessed 2 Aug. 2018. Too bad Mrs. Westaway isn’t her grandmother, but from her tarot card reading and dealings with the public, Hal knows how to read people and situations and is confident she can pull off the deception. What’s the harm in playing along and walking away with just a little money to help her through this rough patch? Hal hops on a train to attend the reading of the will and ends up staying with the Westaway family. From here, the tension and suspense made this an addictive read that I had difficulty putting down.I will never feel sad again, in spite of everything, in spite of the storm that I know is coming. (c) Ware has chosen an excellent setting for a creepy family drama: The mansion in Penzance, once grand and stately, is now old, dusty, and creaky. The strange and elderly housekeeper has put Hal in the attic with “a metal bedstead in one corner, a washtand in the other, and a barred nursery window overlooking the garden.” As if barred windows in the attic aren’t scary enough, Hal soon finds “HELP ME” etched into the glass of the window in tiny, cramped writing. The attic, a run-down mansion, and a sinister old housekeeper are all ingredients for a chilling gothic thriller, but Ware makes sure not to let her novel slip into the clichés of the genre. It didn’t take long for me to feel completely immersed in this haunting tale. The damp and dark weather. The old, crumbling mansion. The family full of lies and long hidden secrets. This is my kind of book! I have read every one of Ruth Ware’s novels and this is by far, my favourite! I read this one with five of our Traveling Sisters. By the time we finished this story we were spilt with how we felt about this story.
