Colors, and matte colors, in particular, have just been so popular lately,” he says. “We wanted to do something that would stand out from a color perspective but also give golfers the added performance benefits of a urethane ball.” Since I know you’re wondering, the samples we received are made in Srixon’s factory in Indonesia. MyGolfSpy’s Ball Lab report on the Srixon Q-STAR TOUR last October found significant inconsistencies in both roundness and compression. For its part, Srixon hasn’t officially commented, other than to say they were surprised by the results. By comparison, the Srixon Z-STAR, which is made in Japan, scored very well in its Ball Lab test. And if memory still serves, I carded my very first birdie that year with a PING Eye on the par-3 17 th at the Westminster Golf Club. The Srixon Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE is built on the Q-STAR TOUR platform. It’s a three-piece, 72-compression ball with a urethane cover. Only that it’s in two colors.

We’ve discussed this with Srixon whenever Q-STAR Tours come up and, to its credit, the company has neither shied away from the results nor has it dismissed them. However, one thing is certain: If any Srixon Tour staffers did play a Z-STAR level DIVIDE, Srixon would get more TV time than it ever thought imaginable. Color aside, the Q-STAR TOUR DIVIDE is the most up-to-date version of the Q-STAR TOUR. It features what Srixon calls a 338 Speed Dimple Pattern. The company says it’s designed for a penetrating ball flight, increasing lift and reducing drag. The 2020 Q-STAR Tour was a middle-of-the-road performer in last year’s MGS Ball Test. By and large, it was low spin with both the driver and iron at all three swing speeds tested. And out of all 37 balls tested, it finished no lower than 12 th in iron carry distance in each swing speed. Driver distance, however, was a different story. It was a top-half performer in the mid-swing speed category but finished near the bottom with both high and low swing speeds. Meet the all-new Q-STAR Tour Divide, a golf ball that stands out on the course with its unique 50/50 matte urethane cover. DIVIDE boasts all the drive-boosting, chip-stopping performance of a classic Q-STAR TOUR but comes in a new dual colour construction.

FastLayer Core - The new FastLayer Core offers distance and soft feel without compromise due to a gradual transition from the soft inner core to the firm outer edge. When Srixon introduced the Q-STAR Tour DIVIDE two-color balls last spring, they included much of what’s new in this “standard” version. The high points are the ever-evolving FastLayer Core, that thinner cover we discussed earlier and an elongated alignment stamp.
