Description

Before the Fall, a minority of the Eldar left the homeworlds, taking to space in vast ships that would amalgamate and become cities in the void known as Craftworlds, these are the Craftworld Eldar. The Craftworld Eldar are the last vestiges of the Eldar at the height of their power before the cults of excess rose to prominence. To protect themselves from the lure of Slaanesh, the Craftworld Eldar's life follows a set of rigid Paths, with the Path of the warrior or the seer being the path most commonly encountered by alien races. Upon their breast, each Craftworld Eldar wears a spirit stone that will trap their soul upon death so that it may be protected from Slaanesh's ravenous hunger. Although the Eldar are a dying race they are still a formidable foe, their superior technology, training and tactics make them a match for any enemy force, no matter their numbers.

The Eldar are a technologically advanced humanoid race who once dominated the Galaxy. At the height of their power, their empire spanned and dominated a significant portion of the galaxy and they were secure in their prosperity. Freed from the need for manual labour the Eldar grew decadent. They began to explore all the sensations their heightened senses and psychic mastery could offer, over time becoming more and more debased in their tastes, exploring and satiating any and all desires they could conceive. It was this that would lead to their fall. The psychic echo of their vices coalesced in the warp and in a single night obliterated their entire empire as the chaos god Slaanesh was born, tearing a gouge in the fabric of real space that is today known as the Eye of Terror. For new players or players looking to start an entire Aeldari army this box is a Repeat for sure. Mainly if you want to run a Saim-Hann list, but also just because you’ll get a fantastic core to a collection. You’ll find use for just about everything in the box. The only “issue” is that after 12 jetbikes, you’re kind of leaning hard into playing Saim-Hann.

Combat Patrol contents

The Aeldari are an ancient and once-proud race whose hubris caused their demise. As their civilisation reached new heights of technology and culture, and they came to dominate the galaxy around them, they began to seek stranger and darker pleasures. Simon: I used the Fatebreakers , the Aeldari Combat Patrol led by Farseer Iraneth. They’re a well-rounded collection including the high-speed manoeuvrability of two squads of Windriders , and a tough, hard-hitting Wraithlord that’s a threat at every range. The Guardian Defenders have some formidable firepower at their disposal too – especially when bolstered by the Farseer’s Eldritch Storm – and crucially, her Foresight Enhancement means they can Fire Overwatch on a 5+ or better, so they’re a massive threat. Ah, the Blood Angels– noble and civilised sons of Sanguinius, most handsome, tragic, star-crossed and pretty of all the Emperor’s ‘Primarch’ sons. These renaissance Italy-themed space marines are among the most storied and popular chapters of the Adeptus Astartes.

There’s a rich vein of fiction to explain the Aeldari in more detail. Gav Thorpe’s landmark omnibus, Path of the Eldar , covers many aspects of the Aeldari, while Ghost Warrior explores the newly formed Ynnari faction, and The Masque of Vyle focuses on the Harlequins. As fate would have it, I fell foul of a Deadly Demise yet again – explosions of every ilk seem to be my nemesis on Battle Report ! That being said, my Wraithlord did survive one that would’ve otherwise destroyed it, as it had been reduced to 1 Wound remaining at the time, so I can’t really complain. Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as newspapers or magazines cannot be returned. We also do not accept products that are intimate or sanitary goods, hazardous materials, or flammable liquids or gases. GW has used two methods to attempt to balance the boxes against one another. First, although the models in the box set may have many weapon options, there’s a particular loadout you’re supposed to equip your models with. Second, the Combat Patrol versions of each faction’s datasheets army rules are different from their main Index. Datasheets are simpler, and armies have access to different Stratagems, and enhancements.A squad of six Windrider jetbikes* gives you plenty of speed to zoom around the board. Combined with Craftworld Saim-Hann’s bike-buffing sensibilities , these agile Aeldari can reach just about anywhere you need them from turn 1. That’s not to say they’re all whoosh and no wallop – their bikes carry plenty of upgraded shuriken weaponry for shredding any foe foolish enough to get in the way. There’s plenty of guidance on how to paint your chosen subfaction, as well as fascinating lore on their histories, victories, and defeats. If the Wraithlord can tank as well as I’m hoping then you’ve got a very well rounded box. The Verdict? In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. Other groups of Aeldari cling to existence, including the Harlequins – who travel the Webway (an ancient network of safe* tunnels through the warp) acting as diplomats, performers, and mercenaries, and the Ynnari – who worship the half-reborn god of death as a means to finally thwart Slaanesh and recapture the Aeldari souls it ate during the Fall.
